Our Patron Saints

The model of Joseph House is Joseph of Nazareth, foster father of Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

Joseph cared for and provided for the Christ Child and His blessed Mother Mary with reverence and devotion, and was always there for them.

In this same way, the staff and volunteers of Joseph House try to treat the poor and homeless who come to us, seeing Christ in them.

“I promised Saint Joseph that I would work as hard as I could all my life for the poor if he would provide the means. . . . Saint Joseph is our provider and protector.”

Sr. Mary Elizabeth Gintling

Charles de Foucauld was canonized in 2022, although we still think of him as “Brother Charles.” His life and spirituality are an inspiration to the Little Sisters and the Joseph House.

“The guidance of Brother Charles will always be needed as we strive to be faithful to the Gospel, share the Good News with the world, care for the poor, and be contemplatives in this world of activity.”
