Golf Tournament a Success

The 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Joseph House, held on October 6, was a great success, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and faithful individual donors. It would not have been possible without the multitude of dedicated volunteers, from those who serve on the planning committee to those who carry out the many tournament day activities. We had a full roster of golfers, many of whom have returned year after year, happy to help meet the critical needs of the poor and homeless in our region.

The tournament took place at Green Hill Country Club in remembrance of Bill Ahtes, who passed away last November. Sr. Marilyn paid tribute to Bill at the luncheon following the tournament:

“Bill gave tirelessly of himself, his great heart, and his heroic effort on behalf of Joseph House. His contributions to our ministry, our service to the poor, and his great love for Salisbury and its betterment are legendary. Did you know that while he was serving at Joseph House, two times he left by ambulance. Did that stop the man with the nine lives and great heart, not a chance. He longed to be of service and help to all who needed it. Bill, we love you and are ever grateful for your gracious love. God holds you in His arms and I’m sure has you out there seeking out supporters for His children on earth!”
