In Memoriam: Sherwood Morris
Sherwood Morris, 70, Joseph House Workshop staff member, died on November 16, 2023, after a short illness. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and co-worker.
Sherwood initially came to the Workshop as a resident several years ago. He had a positive attitude, was always upbeat and smiling and greatly benefited from the program. While he was at the Workshop, Sherwood started doing community service at Habitat for Humanity, and after he graduated from our program he was hired by Habitat. He worked there for five years and drove the truck for their Restore home improvement and donation outlet.
Following his retirement, we eagerly welcomed Sherwood back to the Workshop as a staff member. His demeanor and life experiences made him an ideal mentor for the men in the program. He could advise them gently and with humor on many different issues.
The Sherwood we knew and loved was a luminous spirit filled with life and love for the Lord. He will truly be missed. We pray for him and his family, and we hope the positive impact he made on so many people offers consolation in the wake of his loss. The fact that the Joseph House was part of Sherwood’s journey is a great blessing for us. May he receive his joyful reward from God in Heaven!
Visitation will be Friday, December 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Bennie Smith Life Celebration Center, 901 West Isabella Street Salisbury, MD 21801. The Funeral Service will follow at the same location at 11 a.m.
